“Banking is a service oriented industry
founded on honesty and good judgment
bearing the charge of responsibility for
custodial and capital owned by others.”
Born and raised in Kalispell and the son
of a five term Flathead County District
Judge, Mr. King later graduated from the
U of M School of Business where he was
also a letterman on the Grizzly football
team. Mr. King’s colorful job history
includes lookout fire-spotting,
smoke-jumping and even working on the
construction of Hungry Horse Dam.
Finally, he entered into banking, and by
the time he and J.L Hensley laid the
groundwork for Valley Bank, Mr. King had
already worked in nearly all capacities
of the banking industry at several
different banks in several different
Montana cities.
Mr. King has received recognition by
being appointed by two governors to the
1st & 2nd State Banking Boards, elected
as President of Montana Independent
Bankers Association and has been
appointed by both Federal Reserve
Chairman Paul Volker and later again by
Chairman Alan Greenspan to the US
Consumer Advisory Council. He was even
one of 26 agricultural economy experts
called for a consultation with President
Ronald Reagan. The highlight of his
career was being elected as President of
Independent Bankers Association of
America (now referred to as Independent
Community Bankers Association).
Community service has been very
important to Mr. King. He has actively
served in the Chamber of Commerce, on
the Advisory Council for the U of M
School of Business, on the Board of
Directors for the U of M Foundation and
as the chairman of the foundation
Committee of Kalispell Regional Medical
Center.
Mr. King has been married to his lovely
wife Almeda for 54 years. They have 3
children, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great
grandchildren.
Jack
Hensley
Executive Vice President
Gary
Madison, Senior Vice President
Senior Real Estate Lender and Head of
Lending
“Banking historically was considered
among the more honorable and honest
professions and the people in banking
were held to a higher standard of
conduct. Unfortunately, that public
perception is changing as banking moves
toward a sales culture and away from its
roots. I am proud that Valley Bank has
stayed true to its heritage as a
community bank.”
After finishing his degree in business
at the University of Montana, Gary began
a career in banking that has since
blossomed into 35 years of banking
experience. Valley Bank’s top real
estate lender devotes an admirable
effort to the United Way campaign.
Gary is an avid golfer (“not good, just
avid”), an informed Griz fan, and a
party-animal on bowling night. He and
his wife Wendy have two children,
Michael and Cassidy.
Kathy
Bauska, Vice President
Head of
Operations
By the time Kathy was 21, she had worked
at 3 different banks and determined that
she would look for a career down a
different avenue. After rescinding her
employment at First Security Bank in
Kalispell in the fall of 1977, A.J. King
called and asked Kathy if she would come
fill in as Valley Bank’s operations
supervisor while the bank looked for a
permanent employee for that position. 28
years later and King is still looking
for an operations supervisor at Valley
Bank.
Kathy has become well known in the
banking community and oversees just
about every facet of the banks
operations. She is a former Big Sister,
Soroptomist, and Chamber of Commerce
Ambassador.
Mrs. Bauska, a former Libby Logger,
married her husband Greg in July of
1984.
Dan
Hensley, Vice President

customers with competitive and honest

established himself as a knowledgeable
lender in the Flathead Valley. His work
emphasizes a straightforward style of
lending that targets the optimal

School and The University of Montana. He
is an athlete, outdoorsman and an all
around fan of the game of football
whether it’s volunteer coaching or
catching a Griz game.
Dan and his wife Sonya have a daughter,
Chloe and a son, Christian.

An avid outdoorsman and family man,

Mark and his wife, Michelle, have been
blessed with five wonderful children:
Logan, Ryan, Jackson, Emily and Jesse.
Life is full and very fun!

treated without discretion of his or her

Joel
Rosenberg, Assistant Vice President
Consumer/Commercial
Loan Officer and Head of Marketing
"After spending a year with a
metropolitan bank that operates as a
major corporation, I realize the
importance of keeping things locally
owned and operated. It is such a breath
of fresh air to work for a smaller bank
that channels money back into the
community and is focused on service
rather than sales".
After graduating from Whitefish High
School, Joel attended the University of
Montana on a football scholarship from
1999 to 2002 and had the honor of
playing on a National Championship team.
He graduated with a degree in Business
Finance as a 4th generation Grizzly.
